Farmington Savings Bank Online Security
Farmington Savings Bank places a high priority on security and confidentiality. We implement the very latest technology and security to provide a safe online banking environment. Farmington Savings Bank Online uses 128-bit SSL strong encryption during your sessions to safeguard your data. Encryption ensures your information is scrambled and protected while traveling across the internet between your computer and Farmington Savings Bank’s web server. To receive the highest level of online security, there are additional measures you can implement as well:
• Maintain Security to your physical PC
• Utilize up-to-date anti-virus protection
• Do not use password management software
• Do not disclose your username or password to anyone
• Check our Security Server Certificate
• Logout of Online Banking when your session is complete
• Review your bank statements
• Control physical access to your personal computer (PC); that is, do what you can to prevent unauthorized persons from using your PC.
• If you are using your PC and need to walk away from it for any reason, log off or lock your workstation.
• Select passwords that would be difficult for others to guess and change them frequently.
• Do not give your passwords to anyone. Do not save passwords on your website or leave written notes with your password near your PC.
• Report suspicious activity you notice relating to your PC or use of your PC to the appropriate parties and do so as quickly as possible. If you notice suspicious activity relating to your accounts at Farmington Savings Bank that you access online, promptly report that activity to our Customer Support Representatives at 860-676-4600.
• Install virus management software on your PC and use it regularly.
• Keep it up to date (i.e., latest signature files, product upgrades).
• Be cautious when downloading and running programs or Java or ActiveX applets as they may contain unsecure data that cannot be filtered; for example, using firewall or anti-virus software.
• Use extreme caution when opening Email received from unknown sources and pay special attention to any attachments. Do not launch or open an attachment from an unknown source. When in doubt…delete it without opening it.
DO NOT DOWNLOAD SOFTWARE THAT REMEMBERS ACCESS DETAILS
Please do not download any computer software that remembers and pre-populates any of your access details required to logon to Online Banking.
DO NOT DISCLOSE YOUR USERNAME OR INTERNET PASSWORD TO ANYONE
Your Online Banking Username and your Internet Password should not be written anywhere or shared with anyone.
Please ensure that no one watches you while you enter your Username or Internet Password. This is particularly important in a work environment. We also recommend that each is unique, i.e. different from each other, ATM PINs and other codes. They should also never be simple, such as a birth or anniversary date.
As an additional safeguard, it is advised that you regularly change your Online Password. If you suspect that your Username and Password have been compromised, contact Farmington Savings Bank immediately at (860) 676-4650.
CHECK THE SECURITY SERVER CERTIFICATE
A server certificate is a digitally signed document stored on our web server that is presented to your browser when you connect to our web site. The certificate informs your browser that the web site you are connected to is, in fact, Farmington Savings Bank and not a “fake” site.
It is recommended that you check the Security Server Certificate each time before you enter your logon details.
When you’ve finished using the Online Banking service, make sure you click the Log Out button. This is especially important in a work environment. As additional protection, clear your browser’s cache in order to remove copies of web pages that may have been stored temporarily on your system. Refer to your browser’s Help file for instructions on clearing your cache.
We recommend that you regularly check your paper account statement to make sure there are no unauthorized transactions on any of your accounts. If you suspect that any such transactions have taken place, please contact Farmington Savings Bank immediately at (860) 676-4600.
